On October 27th, 2017, NUST MISIS presented the University`s development strategy to the Council of the Program for Competitiveness Enhancement of Leading Russian Universities among Global Research and Education Centers. NUST MISIS’s results for 2016 and 2017 greatly impressed the Council’s experts.
NUST MISIS has improved its ranking by 63 spots in the U.S. News Best Global Universities by Subject: materials science, taking 220th place among 1,250 universities ranked from 74 countries.
NUST MISIS has entered the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by subject: engineering and technology, entering the group of 401-500. This is the 6th subject ranking NUST MISIS has entered in 2017.
NUST MISIS has improved its positions in the QS Emerging Europe & Central Asia (EECA) Rankings, rising by 6 spots, from 63rd to 57th. For the fourth year in a row, the University has demonstrated positive growth, improving its position by 14 spots from 2014.
In general, Russian universities are not eager to participate in technological competitions as they are afraid to underperform in fields where they have notable financing, authority, and educational programs. Mikhail Filonov, the NUST MISIS Vice-Rector of Research & Development, expressed such an opinion, formed over years of observations, at the panel discussion “Prize competitions: A new path to open innovations”, held at the Open Innovations Forum 2017.
