World leading experts in the field of computer modeling, together with NUST MISIS’s young scientists, recently convened to discuss the problems stemming from the calculations of complex structures and ways to solve these problems as part of the 3rd International Conference on Electronic Structure Theory for the Accelerated Development of Materials: A New Tool in Materials Science.
On October 25th, 2017, the 3rd meeting of the Public Council for Industrial Policy of CIS States took place. The agenda was a discussion of the series of actions needed to implement the cooperation agreement of CIS states in the mining-metallurgical industry. The meeting attracted representatives from the leading companies in the field of mining-metallurgy, as well as business representatives and delegates from the CIS states embassies. Some detailed issues of NUST MISIS’s cooperation with business-partners from Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Tajikistan were discussed.
In general, Russian universities are not eager to participate in technological competitions as they are afraid to underperform in fields where they have notable financing, authority, and educational programs. Mikhail Filonov, the NUST MISIS Vice-Rector of Research & Development, expressed such an opinion, formed over years of observations, at the panel discussion “Prize competitions: A new path to open innovations”, held at the Open Innovations Forum 2017.
On October 3rd, 2017, NUST MISIS and CERN signed an agreement which assigns the specific duties of all the participants of the SHiP (Search for Hidden Particles) experiment.
