Priority 2030

The Priority 2030 academic leadership program is the largest Russian higher education modernization project launched by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. It’s aimed to form a group of universities that will become the leaders in creating new scientific knowledge and technologies to drive economic growth by breakthrough innovations and competencies. Over hundred universities selected on a competitive basis annually receive state funding in the amount of 100 million rubles (over $1.1 million). MISIS University was among ten educational institutions that additionally won a 994 million rubles ($11.2 million) special grant for the Research Leadership track.

The mission of NUST MISIS is to become a global center of excellence in engineering education and science

The university fosters a thriving academic environment that is vigorously creative in approach and international in scope. We stand ready to train the next generation of researchers and industry specialists to become the best and brightest scientists who through collaboration play a leading role in finding viable solutions to the world’s most pressing technological and scientific challenges.

Our strategic goal is to create breakthrough innovations for the national and global economy that will reshape existing industries and build new ones

To achieve the goal, NUST MISIS conducts world-class fundamental and applied research in materials science, quantum technologies, biotechnologies and computer science as well as develops innovative engineering solutions.

Strategic projects

Within Priority 2030 NUST MISIS is implementing five strategic projects focused on scientific and educational areas:

Materials of the Future

The project is based on the success of MISIS University in the revolutionary creation of new advanced materials. The idea is to create technologies of the future based on next-level functional properties of materials. At our university we’re able to implement the entire cycle of creating a material from modeling structures and properties to manufacturing and comprehensive research.

Quantum Internet

The project is standing at the forefront of the second quantum revolution. It links two hitherto independent parts of Russian quantum technologies — quantum computing and quantum communications. It will create conditions for the transition of quantum inventions from laboratories to industry, create competitive products with export potential and train quantum engineers as interdisciplinary specialists.

Biomedical Materials and Bioengineering

Using MISIS University’s expertise in materials science, this strategic project aims to bridge the gap between the capabilities of modern materials in medicine and the needs of society to improve health and quality of life. The project involves research in the fields of tissue engineering, biophysics, targeted drug delivery and bioprinting, and the creation of new technologies and materials that improve treatment efficiency.

Technologies for Sustainable Development

The project goal is to create technologies for green manufacturing, innovative engineering solutions that help to reduce the anthropogenic load, including carbon footprint. The field of study consists of such areas as “Recycling and Industrial Waste”, “Decarbonization and Low-carbon Economy”, “Environmental Monitoring and Resource Conservation”, “Renewable Energy”.

Digital Business

The project aims to synchronize industry knowledge with new approaches and tools for digital transformation. It consists of two parts: solving business problems in the real economy and setting up a competence center for creating and implementing scalable digital solutions in the field of artificial intelligence.
