The United Dissertation Research Council has started its work on the implementation of NUST MISIS’s rights to award degrees independently. The previous Dissertation Research Council on the Higher Attestation Commission will continue its work until August 31st, 2018, and afterward will cease operations.
A research team from NUST MISIS and Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University (RNRMU) has successfully conducted preclinical trials of a new anticancer drug based on magnetite nanoparticles. In the test results, the lifetime of sick mice who were given the drug was doubled. The research results have been published in Nanomedicine.
NUST MISIS will create a National Center of Technological Initiative for end-to-end “Quantum Communication” technology. The University won the Russian Venture Company contest, which was held with the Russian government’s support for the National Center of Technological Initiative. The Center’s planned financing is approximately 2 billion Rubles from now to 2020.
NUST MISIS has significantly improved its position in the Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies University Rankings, rising from 163rd to 99th. The University has shown excellent results despite increasing competition: in 2014, representatives of 20 different countries participated in the ranking, but in 2018 that number increased to 50.
NUST MISIS scientists, in collaboration with colleagues from both the P.N. Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Dagestan State University, have conducted an experiment with the help of muon radiography method (a modern method of scanning the internal structure of substances) that could turn out to be substantial. The research group non-invasively scanned the hidden space underground the northwestern part of the Naryn-Kala fortress (Derbent). The team is currently processing the information from the sensors.
The Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) recognized the Russian Federation patent 2625832 as patent of the week (April 30th, 2018 to May 6th, 2018). This patent is NUST MISIS`s “Drill bit reinforced with diamond-cutting elements” development (authors: Polushin N.I., Maslov A.L., Laptev A.I., Kushkhabiev A.S., Kotelnikova O.S., Varshavskiy Y.S.).
